Pray, What Doth Thou Wish to Know?

Whether thou seek’st a play for thine pupils, wonder how many young knaves may tread the boards, or wish to know if we do owt beyond the Bard - thou art in the right place.

 

Here lie answers to the most common queries from noble teachers and curious folk alike: from payments and safeguarding to travel and tailoring our shows.

  • Which plays do you do?
    We can do ANY Shakespeare play! We currently have these plays written to perform in schools. Romeo and Juliet Macbeth A Midsummer Night's Dream The Tempest Twelfth Night Anthony and Cleopatra The Taming of the Shrew The Merry Wives of Windsor Much Ado About Nothing However, if the play you would like is not listed here- please do get in touch. We love adapting new plays, and may even have yours in the works already!
  • What ages are your performances suitable for?
    For ages 4-104. We have performed for Reception all the way to University students. We will slightly alter the content to make sure it is appropriate for the age we are performing to.
  • How many pupils can participate?
    A maximum of 40 pupils can participate in each of our workshops, though we often deliver multiple workshops across a single day (or many days)! We can usually deliver to an entire Key Stage across a day in Primary schools, or a whole year group in Secondary. Get in touch to talk through your needs.
  • Do you do bespoke days?
    Yes, please email or call us to discuss your requirements further. We have delivered half days, full days and in alternative spaces and for all kinds of alternative provision, as well as groups of children who are home schooled. info@rubbishshakespearecompany.com 07896203555
  • Do you do any workshops or performances NOT on Shakespeare?
    Yes, we have delivered workshops on a number of English, Drama or Literacy topics and texts in schools up and down the country. Our skilled practitioners have decades of experience in the arts, and can use performance as vehicle to explore most topics.   • How far do you travel?
    Although based in the North West of England, we travel anywhere and everywhere. We have visited schools across the country from Surrey to Fleetwood, Dudley to Cambridgeshire and have delivered internationally in countries like Korea, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands!
  • Do you take a deposit?
    Yes, we ask for a 25% deposit to confirm the booking.
  • What is your prefered method of payment?
    Our preferable way of payment is BACS, but a postal cheque is accepted too. We ask for payment within 30 days of the invoice being sent.
  • Do you have a Safeguarding Statement? Are you DBS checked?
    All actors and facilitators we use are Enhanced DBS checked. Furthermore, the Rubbish Shakespeare Company is committed to safeguarding all those with whom we work. This includes, but is not limited to, children, young people, vulnerable adults and our staff and contractors. The Rubbish Shakespeare Company works closely with local councils, schools and other safeguarding authorities to ensure that all those we work with are safe. We will seek to safeguard children and young people by: ​ Valuing them, listening to and respecting them Adopting child protection guidelines through our procedures for staff and suppliers Practising safer recruitment through training provided by the NSPCC Sharing information about child protection and good practice with children, parents, staff and suppliers​ Sharing information about concerns with agencies who need to know, and involving parents and children appropriately​ Providing effective management to staff and volunteers through supervision, and ongoing training training.
